EMCA Exposure and Vulnerability Workshop

From 15-19 April in Bishek we had the pleasure to welcome a selected group of Engineers and practitioners from Central Asia, to work  for a whole week together with well known experts from the GEM scientific community.

The  scope of the Workshop was manifold: on the one hand we wanted to reach a preliminary consensus on a model of exposure which could be used throughout Central Asia, in particular building upon the proposed GEM Taxonomy. On the other hand we wanted the local engineering community to get a better grasp of the approaches and methodologies proposed by GEM for the estimation of physical vulnerability of buildings.

The Workshop turned out to be a great success, with as one of the key outcomes a shared exposure model drafted by all participants through interactive discussion.
