Philip Maechling

I work at the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) as the Information Technology Architect and Project Manager for the SCEC Community Modeling Environment (SCEC/CME). I help to develop software and high performance computing tools for seismic hazard calculations. I also develop open-source seismological and engineering software used in strong ground motion modeling and simulations. Before joining SCEC, I was a member of the Professional Staff in the Caltech Seismological Laboratory. While at Caltech, I worked on the TriNet project with Caltech and USGS researchers, developing a state-of-the-art data acquisition and real-time earthquake monitoring system. My commercial software development experience includes two-way mobile radio firmware development for a radio manufacturer and software design, development and engineering for Hughes Aircraft and TRW on military command and control systems and missile defense systems.
