Powell Working Group

The Powell Working Group brings together Seismologists and Geophysicists. Experts that are working on a wide range of topics relevant for development of PSHA input models such as statistical seismology, tectonics and seismology in general. The group provides an opportunity for discussing and working on challenging and disputed problems related to seismicity occurrence, such as the maximum magnitude concept or the definition and characterisation of earthquake occurrence. The Powell Working Group meets at the USGS John Wesley Powell Center for Analysis and Synthesis in Fort Collins, CO (http://powellcenter.usgs.gov). Two meetings took place in 2012 and two are scheduled for 2013.
