Uncertainty propagation in analytical vulnerability

This pptx proposes a 3-level approach to propagating uncertainty in analytical vulnerability functions that accommodates different levels of effort on the part of the analyst. The 3 levels allow the analyst to assess the vulnerability of 1, 3, or 7 index buildings. We expect that levels 1 and 2 will be most commonly used, perhaps almost exclusively. A 4th level, essentially equal to ATC-58 but with the addition that many more index buildings must be analysed, is considered but rejected as impractical for present purposes. The first two levels are detailed in the contents vulnerability guidelines currently on Nexus. The approaches have been discussed with the team in general and approved after detailed discussion among CU, Kiremidjian’s team, Crowley, and Bazzurro.
