GEM Faulted Earth subduction zone report

One aim of the GEM Faulted Earth project was to develop a globally consistent characterisation of the world’s approximately 55,000 km of subduction interface as a basis for generating earthquake event sets for inclusion in earthquake hazard and risk modelling. In September 2011 an invited group of scientists (the report authors) with extensive knowledge of subduction zones around the world met for four days to discuss the approach to take to compile a database and also to begin populating the attributes of the 64 subduction segments identified.  This report summarises the process and results.
